I know this happens in every tournament. Teams are seeded wrong. But this is a huge tournament so I am not sure what the organizers were thinking.

Who cares? Win the games. Life is not fair. Still have to win. Stop complaining.

By the way I doubt you are correct.

Basically the OP is a complaint that the top SYC 08 team is really good. Get better. And don’t assume you are better than the top 09 team in the other bracket.

What’s the problem?

They clearly state on their page which level teams are assigned to which particular division.

Doesn’t look like the placement you are whining about goes against that.

Sorry your dd team isn’t good

It’s U13. Not the World Cup. Calm down. I’ll bet if it were lopsided in your team’s favor you’d be ok so you can relive that tournament win glory?

This one will most likely be an all SYC final. Anything can happen in youth soccer, but this one has a big mismatch between most teams and the SYC teams. I feel bad for all the other teams besides BRYC 08 Boys ECNL. That team has the worst parents I have ever seen. One match there was a teenage girl ref, who wasn't perfect, but was better than a lot of refs and called it pretty fairly. She hurt her ankle towards the end of the game and couldn't continue. At the end of the game, she was sitting down with ice on her ankle and this BRYC dad comes up screaming at her so much that her dad and that BRYC dad got into it. I think the only reason fists didn't fly was luckily there was a fence between the two.

Every tournament does this kind of garbage. Haven't you noticed that the host team wins or makes it to the finals (insanely) disproportionately ?

Most tournaments do this kind of garbage. Think of it as the club is insecure in the product/service they offer to their members, so they stack the deck to try to dupe parents into thinking the place/wins their kid’s team got are meaningful.

B team vs A team 1 year younger usually gets smashed.

Bracket B: 67% chance of semifinal. 33% chance of final.

The Virginian organizers elected to place their two less strong teams--McLean 08 and SYC 09--in a bracket where they wouldn't have to face their own powerhouse SYC 08 team. And then they gave those teams the ONLY path to the semifinal and an easier path to the final. The team that places 2nd in Bracket A--which includes more teams--has NO path to the final. Completely unfair to ABGC, BRYC, and Stafford. In addition, BRYC beat McLean in their last two games by scores of 7-2 and 4-2. As the strongest 2008 team after SYC 2008 MLS, they should have been placed in a different bracket than SYC MLS.

It's rather an odd way of doing things, but it's not really unfair. The semi-final is not actually a semi-final, it's a playoff to determine the winner of bracket B. One team from each bracket will play in the final. It's also not unreasonable to separate the two SYC teams into different brackets.

This is a benefit of hosting your own tournament. Happens in all of them, so get used to it. I do not know these teams in particular. But, I do not know SYC and McLean are separate clubs. Their "collaboration" doesn't start until next year and is called Virginia Union. So, it makes sense that the two SYC teams are in different brackets. And, looks like one of those SYC teams is a year younger! Seems like you are scared to play that one team. But, if they are that good, you were going to have to go through them at some point anyway, right? Train hard, don't make mistakes, take advantage of their mistakes and play on. Good luck.

OP. I say this in the nicest way. Go to sleep, let your kid enjoy the last games of the season. Get over it.

Completely disappointed by the Virginian's brackets for U13B Premier Gold. SYC (the host club) placed two of their three teams in a bracket (Bracket B) which has a significantly higher chance of being successful:
