But, but... if this is true then we can't argue that girls don't know how to play or are weaklings.

Boys tend to shove each other away as they go for contested headers. More yellow cards on headers, fewer concussions.

It’s a tragedy that these young girls suffer sometimes multiple concussions with life long consequences while untrained coaches cheer them on. As a parent you think you are exposing your girls to a good experience then you are left picking up the pieces.

The dumbest thing I’ve seen posted in some time.

The concussions girls get are more whiplash events that boys don’t suffer due to stronger back, shoulder and neck muscles than girls.

The concussion is caused by the brain hitting the inside of the skull, not directly by the hit to the skull from the outside. Boy's necks tend to develop stronger and the stronger neck does a better job of cushioning the blow when the brain bounces into the skull thus making them a little more resistant to concussions than girls. That's the physiological difference. There is also a difference in the way the girls game is played in this country. Many coaches encourage young girls to prove they are as tough as the boys by playing far more recklessly and aggressively than the boys so the girls game is often more physical with more heads getting knocked around.

PP above is correct. Girls are more prone to concussions because they have weaker necks, among other physical differences.

Boy mom but have been in soccer for 8 plus years with him. He was allowed headers at 12 (or maybe 13u) but I don’t recall there ever being a discussion on technique from his coaches. I think that, much like footwork, there needs to be a focus on head and neck positioning.
As to why girls are more prone, don’t know.

It’s the way girls travel soccer is played and called. The sport is very physical and it is encouraged to be. Girls are to make contact and drive through the other player. Refs(at all levels of travel) do not call the game to protect players and are hesitant to makes calls or give cards.

This is specially true in the younger ages and the age where girls go through their growth spurt.

Physiology, poor technique, and lack of athleticism (eg. falling on the ground without training)

Came across several studies indicating that Girls' soccer has the second highest concussion rate, only next to boys' football, certainly higher than boys' soccer. For example, studies like below
https://edition.cnn.com/2019/10/15/health/concussion-high-school-sports-study/index.html
https://headcasecompany.com/concussion_info/stats_on_concussions_sports

This is surprise to me. Especially for most other sports, boys team always has higher concussion rate than girls. Anyone has any insight why?
