I used to in the late 90s. I remember reading about their weddings in Vogue and thinking Marina had such gorgeous coloring - the dark hair against milky white skin.

Will still go on their Instagram pages every now and then.

No. ‘High society’ areas these days are overrun by homeless bums. Most people that wealthy moved permanately to the hamptons or Florida.

What I always find strangely fascinating is how all of the women are so rail thin and waifish that it makes it so hard for me to tell how old they are. I usually think they are older than they actually are for that reason and maybe how they dress.

Maybe Edith Wharton’s high society—Undine Spragg or Isabel Archer.

I went to college with Aerin Lauder, but did not know her well. One of my roommates was in her sorority/sisterhood-either Theta or Tabard society-can't recall which one but they were both at the top for selectivity. I was impressed that she was both quite bright and very attractive, but I didn't envy her even though she had a long line of men/boys after her. I believe her she even met her husband in college. The thing is when you are that loaded, you never know if people want to be around you for you, or your money and connections. It opens doors, but it would make me so paranoid. Everyone knew who she was and consequently knew she came from extreme wealth.

Yes, but I don’t know if it’s high society, it’s more the effortless elegance inspired by another era. I’m also a sucker for “country life”

"High society" just does not apply to the USA, sorry. Please don't be shy - just say the rich.

Now, if you were to talk about Europe, you could say the aristocracy, and talk about salons, etc. Or if you were to talk about ancient Chinese civilizations or the Indian caste system, yes, there might be a "high society" there. But America?

Don't make me laugh, OP.

Are you always this pedantic?

Or so desperately faux sophisticated?

Not really, they're just people. In some cases, they're just people but worse.
