Let him wear the athletic shorts and t-shirts until he decides otherwise. When he is eventually looking for something else, my boys like Uniqlo stuff.

If you buy clothes to dress your son, he won't wear them.

My 10th grade DS still mostly dresses in Nike, UA and Champion tshirts, shorts and hoodies, and nike running sneakers. (My 7th grade DD is way more
fashion conscious!)

I do think a lot of high school aged boys start to incorporate more khaki pants and shorts from stores like American Eagle and Aeropostle, but my son hasn’t done so. Sperrys still seem a popular shoe for those who dont wear sneakers.

The main thing I notice when at the HS is that the kids don’t seem to dress in a “mold” like I remember from my
own hs days.

My 16 year old still dresses the same as he did in ES. Comfy sweats and athletic clothes. So do most other boys his age. If it ain’t broke... If he has somewhere nicer to go, wear what my son wears to school. The dress code is khaki pants, button down shirt, Sperry shoes.

That's how they dress. You are creating an issue where there isn't one.

Just let him wear what he’s been wearing...maybe he’ll develop some style on his own, maybe he won’t, but this isn’t something he needs his mom to do for him.

You must live in a different area than I do. My boys (senior and college graduate) still dress like this.

DS wears athletic shirts and shorts every day. He throws on a sweatshirt if it’s cool. It sounds like your DS is wearing the same as most his age.

As a fellow mom of 2 freshman boys, I would let him continue to wear the UA/Nike stuff until he asks for a change. I know if I went and bought my kids new shorts/shirts, they wouldn't wear it unless I specifically asked and then they would be grouchy about it. Once he gets to school (if he isn't already) then he will see what other kids are wearing and maybe (or maybe not) he will ask for new clothes. Maybe once he gets interested in someone, he will ask for new clothes.

We are having issues with pants too. And with many stores having their dressing rooms closed, it is a hard time to buy clothes for a kid that you aren't sure of size. We recently needed to buy pants and it took buying 7 pairs at Kohls to find some that fit.

I am clueless when it comes to guys’ fashion! My son is a freshman and is in desperate need of some new clothes. Before you tell me to ask him what he wants, I can tell you he does not know or care. He is ALL about being comfortable which is why he still wears the daily uniform of a middle school boy - UA and Nike t-shirts, sweatshirts, sweats, and shorts. Where do I shop and what brands are in style for high school boys?

So, I guess I am mostly looking for comfortable yet stylish summer clothes. As far as his personality, he is not sporty, but he is pretty outdoorsy. We need help with all of it...shirts, shorts, socks, shoes. Although I’m focusing on summer clothes right now, I really struggle with finding him comfortable pants that fit him well. He is very slender and has long legs. He likes to wear sweats all winter, but I can’t find any that fit him well.
