I don't think you need to telework after morning monitoring -- if anything it would be less annoying to go into work those days because you are already out of the house early in the morning. You definitely need to take the day of the egg retrieval off.

OP here. Thank you all for the great advice. I decided I will request to telework if I feel like it (maybe once or twice a week) and still go into work. My doctor says that the shots only last about two weeks, and he says it goes by faster than you think. I am trying to stay positive and hopeful. I haven't gotten my period in May yet, but I will get it and then when I get it in June, I'll go into the clinic.

Another thing, should I avoid seeing people that stress me out? I told my DH I wanted to avoid seeing his SIL during the process.

I agree with the above posts that the only day(s) worth taking off are the egg retrieval and possibly the next day. My monitoring appointments were all 730-9a so with telework or in-person work, it shouldn't interfere unless you have an early start time. Same with drugs in the morning and evening.

Personally, I found work to be a decent distraction during the day. I think having all that time off would just make the stim process seem a lot longer. But that's just me. Good luck, OP.

I did six rounds of IVF and was a good responder every time (my problem was egg quality, not quantity). The only days I took off work were for the egg retrievals, because those required general anesthetic and the whole process took hours so it wasn't practical to work those days. But working FT and in person during everything right up to retrieval was never a problem. I just wore my looser clothes when I got a little bloated towards the end. Loose dresses can be your friend since you're looking at a summer cycle.

So sure, telecommute if you can, but I wouldn't stress about it if you end up having to go back into the office. It's not really that big of a deal and unless you have an extreme reaction, the bloating really isn't likely to be noticeable to anyone else. I developed mild OHSS in one of my cycles and even that bloating was easy enough to pass off as if I just gained a few extra pounds for awhile.

Wishing you lots of good luck, OP. I hope you are successful on your first try! (But even if you aren't don't despair. After all my cycles we did finally have a baby and it was all worth it.)

There were several good answers on your other thread.
If you can telework do so, but it is generally not necessary for the days other than your retrieval and transfer which you will want to take off.

How was it less stressful? Should I consider teleworking after early AM stim appointments?

I would take off of work completely on egg retrieval day, and arrange to work from home for two days after.

Maybe you can ask if you can begin in-person work in August and continue working from home until then? I was not bloated from the stims and would not have needed any time off before. I took the day of the retrieval off. So everyone reacts so differently. There are a lot of monitoring appointments during stims. It was nice to go to those and not stress about getting to the office on time - was able to head home and log on to work “normally” for Covid times.

I just realized i posted this in the incorrect forum but I am posting here because I have more questions that are relevant to this form.

I am starting IVF in July. I go into the office in June to start the process. My DH are excited and trying to stay positive. Is this okay?

For those of you who had successful IVF cycles and great stim results, do you recommend taking vacation or requesting to telework during the process? We are beginning the process in July, but my clinic wants me to come in June as soon as I get my period. I am assuming I will be on birth control for a month. I typically try to be stress free but we are increasing our presence in work soon. Do you recommend taking time off or requesting telework during the IVF process? If so, which stages? I am assuming i need to take off and rest before and after the retrieval. I feel like teleworking would be less stressful than physically being in the office. Should I take off during the stims? I am pretty petite, and I know people will wonder why I am bloated if I go to the office. Does the clinic tell me where I am in the process so I can take off? I am meeting with my supervisor next week so any advice would be appreciated.
