How old are these kids? 13 is different than 17 or 18. And honestly, I would let a small group of 13 yo go alone as long as it wasn’t against hotel rules. 8 together could mean trouble and I wouldn’t want them disrupting others at the hotel.

I would not let my kid go alone. If they do something stupid, you could get thrown out. I just take a book and hang out in the hot tub, or sneak a coffee cup of wine in and sit on a deck chair.

Teenagers do not need constant supervision.

Teenagers - Id be more worried about drinking or property damage.

I would check in on them every so often, but not sit there the entire time.

I'm kind of in the in between on these replies so far and need more details. How old are the kids and maybe one parent should be there but then I waffle back to let kids be kids.

I would be a little nervous but at some point you have to let kids be kids. My kids are young 3,5 so no chance they are hanging at the pool by themselves but by 10-12 I am totally cool with him and her doing their thing at the hotel pool alone.

No, you’re not out of line. At a hotel, I’d have no idea who else is there. If anything happens—kid bumps their head—that’s a lot for another kid to handle in a strange place.

My kids are excellent swimmers and have always been responsible, no way would I let them swim alone. I let mine do many things alone, ride buses, metro, etc.

This is not over-parenting this is actually parenting.

What’s the ages? 10 and up I’d let them go. My kids have all done swim team since age 5 though and are very strong swimmers. Since we also have a lake house, we have also instilled a very healthy wariness of the water.

When would you let your kids go to the pool alone in a hotel? Just curious. I am the lone adult with about 8 boys in a pool. I’m literally here to make sure no one drowns. Apparently, I’m the only parent that feels this way.
