IVf was better than what I had expected. The injections depend on your treatment plan. There are different kinds of IVF too. There’s natural, mini, or regular IVF. So it basically depends on what you and your doctor decide. My treatment plan included birth control pills for about two weeks (no monitoring at that time), about a week and half of injections (monitoring every few days to check progress). There were a lot of monitoring appointments in the days leading up to egg retrieval. Egg retrieval also wasn’t too bad. There was some bloating due to OHSS but it went away after a few days. Hardest part for me were the emotions. I felt very alone during it, I would recommend having a good support system in place. The process can take longer than expected and that’s important to keep in mind. It was hard for me when things didn’t go according to plan. But the actual injections or procedures weren’t bad in my opinion.

I think we’ve decided to move on to IVF after a couple of clomid cycles, including with IUI. Just wondering what I’m in for. I used the trigger shot a couple times so have done small injections which I don’t love but had my husband administer (I’m a bit needle phobic). I had a lot of monitoring with the clomid cycles as well (bloodwork and US). I definitely got bloated/gained a few pounds from either the clomid or the prometrium after but now that I’ve stopped I’ve gone back to normal.
How much worse is IVF going to be?
