Good for you! Walking started my fitness adventure. I am up to between 50-60 miles of running on my treadmill per month along with weight lifting circuit training. I have lost a total of 60+ pounds since November of 2019.

definitely this, walking 10% diet was 90%

It’s admirable that you lost weight but I think your IF and improved diet was responsible for most of your weight loss. That said, getting 20,000 steps is good for you too. Beats sitting on a couch.

I hate it when people claim they are being healthy by walking their dog but remain fat because they don’t change their diet.

Me too! (I'm in late 40s). I did not do strict IF or count steps or calories, but I did cut out sugar and many (but not all) processed foods. It was surprisingly easy (it took me many years to gain that weight and maybe 6 or 7 months to lose it).

48 and I walk all the time to hit 20k. Even while we watch tv. It’s been a fun challenge and I’ve tracked it on a chart to keep me motivated. I’ve been pretty compliant with the 6 hour window. I do have 2T of cream in my coffee in the morning.

20k steps is great. I wish I had the time to do that. And I could have the time. That’s two long walks a day but unfortunately it isn’t easy to find time with a full time job and two little kids. I aim for 20k steps on the weekends and often get derailed. So I applaud you. Good work!!!

I’m not one to argue that walking doesn’t help and 20,000 is an admirable amount of steps. But are you really only eating within a 6 hour window?

Before and during quarantine, I maintained a goal of getting at least 10,000 steps a day. I am 5’7 and was at the lower end of ideal weight range before quarantine. During quarantine, I snacked too much, baked, ate many carbs and a lot of takeout food. I don’t weigh myself, but judging from my clothes and doughiness, I’m guessing I had to be 10-15 pounds up. At the beginning of March, I changed two things: I ate only from 2-8 pm and I decided to walk 20,000 steps a day instead of 10,000.

My pace was not fast, in fact many steps were around my kitchen island! I have tried to break some bad habits with my eating and drink lots more water. I have not been perfect with my eating by no means. Two months later, my clothes are back to fitting and my muffin top is gone. I think that the additional walking did the trick. Just my experience.
