OP here. Thank you, never heard of SFL before...

My boys are exhausted with Club Travel Soccer, HS soccer and keeping up with academics at school.

We might be entering a whole new world here.

At the older ages the rec offerings thin out and there's often only one or two teams per club and most play in SFL because they don't have enough teams to run their own league in house. Check sflsoccer.org to see which of the clubs near you have a team in your age group. Arlington does have their own in-house HS rec league if you're in Arlington. They probably have a friend or two in school who play on a rec team so maybe the best thing would be find a team with friends on it and just have fun with it.

We have a boy who played travel soccer for years before deciding to switch to rec/house. We have had a great experience with Vienna Youth Soccer (VYS) house league.

OP for what club did your kids play travel? Most clubs in the area have a rec option. If you are done with the club though then as others have said, look up the suburban friendship league and find a club there that is close you. SFL is basically travel anyway—just local travel.

Most clubs do super Y over sfl

Different beasts. Super Y is a summer program largely for travel kids. SFL is a regular season rec league.

There are hundreds of teams in SFL.

Just do whatever rec league is closest that their friends play in

We've been very happy with Sterling soccer rec program. Their rec teams play on the same fields as their travel teams. It makes a big difference when you can practice on good quality lighted fields during convenient hours.
