My DS is turning 16 soon and we just went to his Pediatrician for a High School Sports Physical. The doctors were great as usual, the only different thing is I was asked to leave the room for privacy. My heart was broken. LOL.

My son is almost 6ft. tall and has been going to the same place since birth. If your doctors are great why change it.

We just switched my 12 year old to a family practice because we were going to have to change PCP anyway.
They really like the family practice more. I'm not sure what we will do with my younger 2.

Kindergarten, because that’s as young as our family practice dr would take them and we liked him better than any pediatrician we had gone to for any of our kids.

One in college, one in HS, that is still where they go. Teens seen on the third floor, no infants or toddlers, no sesame street characters, and they really get our teens.

My 16 yr old DD started seeing a gynecologist at 16 because she wanted to start birth control pills. Still sees her pediatrician for general issues. Our ped says she sees her kids through college if we want her to. She also manages 17 yr old DS's ADHD meds so I'm inclined to take the offer to stay with her for a while rather than figuring out how to switch to a psychiatrist to prescribe for that since I expect our internal medicine practice would not want to handle that.

18, or switch to family practice. Honestly, a ped is more than qualified to care for your 16 yr old. If they have a good relationship, just keep them and then kid can find own Dr when they go to college.

My kids also have only been to our dentist. We never did the whole pediatric dentistry hoopla. We started at age 4-5. Neither has ever had a cavity and they are in HS now. Invisalign through a separate ortho who also sees adults.

I have to push back on this. I am sure everybody had different experiences but we took our kids to an adult dentist and I so wish they hadn’t. They didn’t do x rays until maybe age five because kids don’t stay still enough. Then, despite careful brushing and regular dentist visits, they found four massive cavities when he got his first x Ray. He almost had to have a baby root canal. Silly me, I believed the dentist when she said he didn’t have cavities and didnt need an x Ray.

Pediatric dentists know how to take x rays of little kids. I’m sure lots of regular dentists so too but still I very much regret not taking my kids to a pediatric dentist.

We loved this practice and can't say enough about the doctors and NPs here! My kids continued seeing them until 21.
