This is false, anyone can do trim carpentry but it does take skill to do it correctly. Unskilled trim is just MDF baseboard with large gaps filled with caulk, paint and a prayer (that you don't notice any flaws before the tailgate warranty runs out)
Solid wood trim, coped and fit together snug, especially stain grade instead of paint grade takes skill.
When someone does your baseboard take note if they just eyeball it and use a lot of caulk, or if they measure the angle of wall intersections and cut the baseboard to fit the wall precisely.
