Darn! I thought I had timed it well! I usually buy annuals as seedlings/young plants but don’t have anywhere to get them started indoors. I got some varieties that don’t transplant well and do best sowed directly. At least I didn’t use them all!

One option would be to find a nice warm spot to germinate them inside and then set the seedlings outside, then you'd have the option to bring them in on cold nights. I have grow lights but have found zinnias to be a bit finicky with germination. I think it's temperature related- I have a heat mat but since I had to relocate my seed operation to a colder part of the house a couple years ago, I've had less success germinating peppers and a couple flower varieties, including zinnias.

Soil blocking. They get air pruned and there’s no transplant shock.

Sow them again, you were too early. They like the heat.

I sowed some Zinnia in my front south facing garden. Other flowers I sowed at the same time have germinated, but this was about a week before the cold night/light frost (I didn’t see frost but my basil plants out of the ground keeled over). Should I sow again or have they just not had enough warm days yet? I’ve been consistently watering.
