Jen didn’t want kids. She wanted to advance her career by doing films and endorsements.

Brad wanted kids. That was Angie’s appeal. Plus, Angie was deep and dedicated to charity. Jen does charity, but isn’t very involved.

I don’t think Jen milked the failed relationship to boost her career. I do think her team curated a victim narrative that included the baby/is she pregnant/is she struggling with fertility issues that kept her on the cover of magazines.

I agree he's never had to work very hard (maybe with the exception of Plan B?) at much of anything. Makes sense not much in the way of relationship skills plus Jolie was a poor choice of a mate. Red flags EVERYWHERE.

Life with Angelina Jolie turned him dark, clearly. He was a self admitted pothead with Jennifer Aniston. Life with Jolie was probably quite intense between the frequency she vibrates at, and having six kids together in how many years, traveling like they did with no home base? Angelina Jolie makes Gwyneth Paltrow seem mellow.

He is an ACTOR.

People want things to be so deep. He WAS a corn fed country boy.

I think he sought out girls like the ones back home at first, sunny and blonde like Gwenyth and Jennifer. Married Jen because it seemed perfect but it wasn't, and I think she doesn't want children. Which is no knock on her but if she wanted one she'd have one by now. And he clearly did want children. I think this was already an issue in their marriage when he met AJ.

AJ, whatever you think about her, clearly values having children and wanted to be a mother. He met her, she was doing this thing he wanted to do with JA but that was causing friction (building a family), she was smoking hot and they had electric chemistry and so that happened.

Then he was with her for a decade having kids and building a family. And for many MANY people having young children is difficult and stressful. They also made that movie about a couple having problems and I thought that was a bad idea. Acting is emotional, acting like you hate your spouse is just asking for trouble. They should have made another movie about wanting to have sex everywhere. The story of, 'person has a bunch of kids and has some marital disarray' is a story as old as time.

It sounds like he's gotten it under control in the aftermath. And now he's one of those guys who drank too much and got divorce and has iffy relationships with his kids. I'm sure you could find plenty of similar albeit more budget stories in his home town in OK.

I’ve read some gossipy things about his early years in Hollywood - he lived with an older man known to “help” young men get their start.

That Anniston thread inspired this one. I recall Brad being described as a corn-fed country boy who was a serial monogamist and was a sweetheart.

He apparently proposed to Gwyneth Paltrow when they were dating and she still gushes about what a wonderful and sweet boyfriend he was.

He then apparently settled down with Jennifer Anniston in wedded bliss. Then it turned out he cheated on her with Angie.

He seemed to have found wedded bliss again as he fell into family building with Jolie and had lots of babies.

In a few years he became a drunkard who abuses his wife and kids.

How can a sweet nice guy end up a trainwreck?
