Subject: Baby pools - why still closed?

It's absolutely the same. VA has not updated them since last year so we're under the same ridiculous rules as last summer.

I was just reviewing the regulations for our community pool in VA and it appears it's mostly the same draconian rules we had last year- no baby pool, in the regular pool you must be 10 feet apart at all times, fully masked on the pool deck, no community pool chairs and only open 1.5 hrs at a time with 30 min for cleaning. Seems asinine given what we now know about outdoor transmission, or lack thereof.

Ours are closed too. And people (most childfree people!!) argued nonstop to keep our HOA playgrounds closed too last month. I couldn't even believe it.

A lot of things kids like to do are free/extra things that are a small part of a bigger experience/are not considered exercise from an adult's perspective/exc. and so the motivation to open them is lower.

To rephrase it more tastefully, young children do not vote, complain to government officials, or spend money on their own. Therefore, their needs come last.

The baby pool at our VA facility was open last summer, but I think only one family could reserve it at a time (for an hour slot).

I know in VA that regular pools are allowed to open because they are for exercise. Maybe it is similar in MC. I agree with you, though, that it is crazy to keep them closed.

Our private pool applies for a waiver to be allowed to open ours.
It’s regulated separately from the adult pool.
