It doesn't update. If your younger one had "sibling offered" status, it stays that way, even after your older is enrolled. We asked MSDC and that was the answer we got. We have twins, one had a better number and matched, the other is still "sibling offered" on the waitlist even after the other one has changed to "enrolled" for next year. The "sibling attending" preference is as of the time of the lottery.

On April 2 we were offered a spot at our last ranked school. I had changed my mind on the school, so I immediately called the school registrar that same day and declined the seat so it could be offered to someone else. It is still saying(a month later now) "Match (enrollment pending)" with the green Enroll at the school by May 3 button. How long does it take for that to disappear??? Did the registrar not update the system, or is MyschoolDC just slow to remove spots you decline?

We got into a school before the enrollment deadline, enrolled, and that school still hasn’t updated our status on MySchoolDC. I have a feeling that telework is going to make the enrollment move slower and thus waitlists are going to move slower. We also declined a spot at a charter school and my friend who was waitlisted at that school hasn’t seen any movement yet.

One thing type A folks can do now is fill out the enrollment paperwork minus the name of the school so it's easy to fill that out and send it in if you do get an offer.

My School DC will send you an email if you get an offer (the school might too but you don’t have to rely on the school). You should also get a text and/ or call if you have a phone number on file (might need to indicate that texts are OK)

You will get an automated email if there is an offer.

NP. I read in another thread that schools tend to make PK offers first since they don't have to worry about leaving room for IB students. We're high up on several PK4 waitlists and trying to figure out how vigilant we need to be about checking where we are. I'm trying not to drive myself crazy with it but obviously don't want to miss an offer. Anyone who has BTDT who can advise on how quickly these lists tend to move, if at all, in May? Do I need to be looking every day just in case? I know they are supposed to contact us directly, as well, but I feel like I can't rely on that.

Although remember that last year the deadline to enroll was extended into June- so there are very few schools that would have offered spots by the “offers by June” deadline so that data would be pretty off

Yes each school is different. In my experience just last year one school did batches of offers, while another did one at a time, giving each family a few days to accept. My son was #2 on a waitlist for 5th last year and didn’t get an offer until late June and then another in mid-July. I recognize it was an odd year, thorough, so maybe there was additional time built in with all the uncertainty.

May, then it slows down until mid-August, then picks up and then there is a rush to fill seats before the first week of October when enrollment stats go into the budget process for next year.
