We recently moved from inside beltway to western suburbs and might consider a change as we're afraid the drive is going to start to be crazy as people go back to work more. Social media keeps pronouncing that FCV is having ID sessions, but I can't find any detail other than some form to fill out. I want to know the where, when, and what age groups (have multiple kids) might ACTUALLY be considering players/what the coaching slate is going to look like.

The standard "FCV is amazing" or "FCV sucks" responses could be skipped. I've read all that and we're looking due to geography, not sucking or college placement -- neither are relevant to our family.

OP, what year is your DD?

Previous poster is correct - rolling tryouts for a lot of teams. My DD's team has had a lot of girls from other clubs showing up to train the past 3-4 weeks.

2009s had ID sessions as these girls are headed to GA (and a full field).

We have 2 DDs -- 07 and 10. What age group is your DD with lots of girls coming? Obviously I can look up a coach's email and ask to come (some other poster criticized for not doing that) but DDs would prefer to come to something formal if it existed. Or at least come when there are many other players also doing so, not just them. And I was asking about coaching slate since whomever is the coach this year may or may not be next year. So not even sure I'd be contacting the person who would be the coach for next year. I heard some coaches were leaving.

2010s are one of the age groups that have had a number of girls come through over past 3-4 weeks to practice.

FCV doesn’t have anything formal except for the very young age groups. https://www.fcvirginia.com/girlstryouts

Hi John OH. Posting from key west trying to do damage control. Interesting. Please don’t bring covid with you. hopefully we don’t have to report you to authorities if you’re seeing violating 14 day quarantine after coming from a covid hotbed like FL.

Who's John OH? And what does he have to do with the post and damage control? Seems to me like FCV is having some internal issues here.

And that FCV is on a lesser platform that will continue to send younger players elsewhere. And that they are falling apart.

The only main issue with FCV is location.

You’re that friggin dumb that you can’t find FCV’s website and a email address for the coach to ask?

Asking the question here you get all the comments you deserve for outsourcing the easiest thing in the world to do for yourself.

We are also considering a move to FCV mainly for geography and a competitive environment. DD is younger age travel. We contacted the coach directly and asked if we could join a training session which we did. Dig around their website and you can find the coach emails for each age group. My understanding is they have "rolling" tryouts throughout the year and not a formal tryout date like Loudoun. At least this is true at the younger ages and maybe not for high school or girls academy. The coaching staff for next season is also posted on their website. I know there is a lot of FCV bashing here (ducking for cover). We're not concerned with college recruiting or club status.

It’s clear you’ve done your job and discarded Loudoun right off the bat. Good for you. There are no reasons to join them unless you’re all about the glamour of Instagram and facebook.

Coming from a current Loudoun and FCV dad who will pull out of Loudoun after this mockery DD has endured the past 2.5 years.
