My dog is extremely timid and hates being groomed, however fortunately he has never snapped at anybody. Due to my dogs timidity, I groom him myself and have watched tons of grooming videos. By watching these videos I have seen groomers use a small muzzle on dogs that nip. So it’s not uncommon. Or you can learn how to groom your dog yourself. My dog looks like a hot mess because I do not have any skills, but it is works for me to groom him myself

Yes, he’s on trazodone. We have to give it prior to even going to the vets. I love him and really don’t want anyone to get hurt because of him.

I’d work on muzzle training. You can make the muzzle a positive association (treats inside it, treats for sniffing it, treats for 2 seconds of poking the nose in it, etc). That will give you a lot more options.

You either need to medicate him or groom him yourself until you’re able to socialize him more.

If he is small do you think you might be able to groom him yourself?

We have an enormous doodle who we had to learn to groom pretty damn fast due to Covid and a total lack of groomers availability. He is fine with it.

I need a groomer for an extremely anxious small dog. He was adopted during Covid and he’s not really been around anyone but our family. He’s great once he gets to know someone, however, when we tried to get him groomed he nipped at the groomer in which the session was over. Amy suggestions? Loudoun area preferred. Thank you.
