My DH stopped being nude around our daughter at age 5 or so. I'm still naked around my kids (oldest is a girl age 9).

I think with adults and kids of the same gender, you can do it until the kid asks you to stop. With adults and kids of opposite gender, I'd stop around 5 or 6.

I saw my dad's penis when I was 6 in the shower and I actually remember it. Like, I can picture the whole thing. It definitely freaked me out.

This is a great response.

I'd guess around 3-4 when they preferred baths, and potty training was over. Before then it was easier to put the kid in with whichever adult was showering at the time for a quick five minute or less shower.

DH and I both still regularly shower with our 4.5 and 6YO boys. 6YO pointed and said "ewwww you're naked!" a few months ago and I told him he could leave and stop seeing me naked any time he wanted to, but I was not going to be ashamed of my body, and we don't make mean comments about other peoples' bodies and he hasn't mentioned it since. It's just not a big deal in our house but I'm sure it's coming soon!

Oh, the question was about showering. Never got into the habit of showering with my 4YO, and stopped showering with my 6YO around age 3-4.

My boys are 6 and 4 and still see me naked sometimes. I imagine my 6YO will "age out" soon and start to be uncomfortable with it, and my 4 YO is naturally more modest and will likely age out soon. I personally don't think nudity is a big deal, though. What matters is each person's comfort level.

We are European and also Asian... and walk around naked from bedroom to bathroom all the time. We've all seen each other naked. Kids are teens. I don't think I will ever quite grasp why some people recoil in horror at nudity. Nudity does not equal sex.

Despite being born and raised in America, it turns out I have European sensibilities regarding nudity. So ... when the kid gets uncomfortable with it. For my son, it was when he was late 7 or early 8, and for my daughter, it was 10 or maybe 11.

My parents occasionally walk around their children and grandchildren naked. They don’t hangout naked, but they will change in front of us and our children all the time. I also do that. My husband also changes in front of our daughters and son. I see zero issues with this. We don’t shower with our kids (it might happen a few times a year) because the kids bathe together and there is no space for adults.

DH and I were debating when is the appropriate time to should stop with kids (we have a 1yo boy and newborn girl). Just wondering when do you all think it’s inappropriate to be butt naked in front of your kids in the shower?
