She does a training class once:wk where she sees other dogs.

We walk by a dog park every day and will stop in for a bit IF there are only a few familiar dogs in there...happens maybe 2-3 times/wk. But she doesn’t really play with the other dogs anyway and is more interested in wandering around, playing fetch etc

I don’t think most dogs “need” interaction with other dogs. I do think playing with other dogs can tire dogs out really quickly and be good for them- if it is the right mix of dogs together.

1/2 day puppy daycare once a week, dog-walker 2x a week where he generally plays with 2 puppies he knows, daily trips to romp with dogs in the park in the morning.

Daycare once a week, a dog walker once a week and random play with his neighborhood friends when we are out walking. When they are very young if you have a friend with a puppy or playful dog I think play dates are great. Our yard is not fenced or I would offer them up all the time as they make our dog so happy. We have a 14 month old dog.

It’s actually fantastic exercise for them if you can find a dog of similar temperament. My dog plays with the dog up the street a couple times a week in their fenced in yard. They wear each other out, and I have zero issues with socialization.

Zero, but two dogs can be easier than one.

If your lives allow, you might consider a maltese(or another easy breed) of the opposite gender.

You should play with your own dog.

I arrange play dates for my dog for me. So I can hang out with my friends while also letting our dogs play!

How old is your puppy and what kind is it? Highly recommend puppy socialization classes so they can learn ways to greet other dogs, how much is too much, etc. Doggy daycare every now and then is good as well.

I send her to her dog walker for 1-2 full days of play. No need for the dog walker anymore, so we shifted to daycare. My dog actually cries with you when her ‘boyfriend’ comes to pick her up.

Yes, you need to socialize your dog 1-2 times a week.

I’ve had five dogs and literally never.
We did send one to doggy day care which was well worth the money. They came home and slept for like 12 hours. I guess that’s a paid “puppy play date”.

Take a puppy manners class, training something and learn about dogs.

They do not need "play dates"

Also, go to the world wide web and read up on dogs.
