God chow hound was so useful. Back in the day when we thought the internet was going to be useful for average people to share interesting opinions, until it was taken over and coopted by billionaires, corporations, and foreign governments to shape messaging and corrupt democracies. For money.

I was gonna say, yeah you'd have to narrow that down a bit more.

LOL I know, I know. But this was, like, THE one.

Ha ha, I was rather fond of him actually. Seemed like he knew his restaurants. He had a very unusual day job as well I gathered from all his posts.

Are you talking about the roller coaster guy?

I use Eater to look up places when traveling

Individual forums faded away with the rise of Facebook and Instagram. I used to be quite active on a number of them, and they’ve gone the way of the dodo bird.

Eh, it's still around, sort of. Was bought by CNET then eventually by CBS and barely resembles it's original self. There have been probably a dozen or more spin off boards formed when yet another mass exodus would take place. I followed egullet for awhile but never got around to composing the personal statement needed to join.
