My child had to apply without visiting and so they applied to a range of schools. In the end got into one in the heart of a major city and one in the absolute middle of nowhere, and is nervous about both for different reasons. May just choose one of the two based on major. I think some kids have a better sense of themselves at 17 than others. Mine is definitely still figuring out who they are and what they need and want from the college experience. Covid made it harder because visiting schools had to be condensed this spring. Never saw either place prior to getting in. It's easy as a parent to say "you'll be happy anywhere," but I want them to feel excited about the decision. Man how I'd love to be a college student again...

You could lose your admission to both schools. Just decide, like everyone has to.

Go ahead and make two deposits. It isn't the most ethical thing to do, but I will take tremendous pressure off your child.

It means something like God. A higher power. Having faith that things will work out.

Confused why you had a hard time understanding? -NP

Yeah, my kid wasn't ready to decide, but one of his choices was having a housing shortage. I offered to pay the $200 housing deposit so he could pick the residential college he liked even though he wasn't ready to put down an admission deposit (they allowed this).

In the end, he chose that school so it is a good thing I did this.

Dithering left another kid we know stuck miles away.

Nope, my DD got into her first choice! She started looking two years ago and really knows what she wants.

Not a kid but my kid is still deciding. That's their temperament though. I figure I'll find out when the college does!
