We are doing an outdoor event at our country club with about 40-50 people.

We aren't having a party or gathering simply because DS doesn't want one. We will go out to a dinner of his choice, can be fancy, but he will probably select something lower key.
He just wants to go to the beach with his friends after graduation. That's his only request.

I've got a graduating senior. We're not having a party, only a small family celebration and then a trip to NYC when it's more 'normal'. Most of us will be vaccinated by then (I have kids that are under 16 and not yet eligible). I'd rather continue taking precautions until more people are vaccinated.

Don’t have a graduating kid, but we are planning an outdoor party for a milestone birthday later this summer. Planning for 50 people.

I have a 2020 grad, which I know is different, but just wanted to say we had long assumed we would have a pretty big graduation party, which turned out not to be ok at all last May.
Instead, my DS had two small gatherings, each with about 5 friends each, with masks, outside and distanced and both of them were awesome. The kids really had a good time, it was intimate with just good friends and the parents stopped by outside for pictures and congratulations.
I think this might have been better for the parents and kids.

Same. We will probably have like 20ish people or so and depending on whether there are a lot of bugs, food will be inside. I don't know what the food will be, but probably grilling.

Haven't figured out details yet but either at our house or our Country Club. Kid doesn't want anything big so not sure how many people.

19:52 here. Everyone invited has already been vaccinated, including friends. There's 16 family members (us, grandparents, aunts, uncles, a couple of young adult cousins), plus friends, and a couple of friends families who will stop by. Haven't decided who to use, but are definitely catering. Spouse doesn't want to be stuck behind a grill!

What are other parents of seniors thinking for graduation celebrations? Now that most 16 yo+ in our family and among our friends will be fully vaccinated by graduation, is having a party a reasonable thing to do? Or is that a jerk move? Any suggestions?
