I did a natural cycle and one thing they did do was put me on birth control for at least 10 days (ended up being a bit longer) and the bleed after stopping was considered day 1 of my cycle. They then monitored me and around the time I would naturally ovulate I did do a trigger injection. Ovulation was maybe a few days later than a non BC induced cycle for me (but I'm sure this varies.) The transfer was scheduled for 5 or 6 days after that. Between egg retrieval and transfer ended up being 3 months for me but I think that time frame can be sped up by a month.
With a medicated cycle I think things are much more controlled and there is less "natural" timing involved but I can't comment since I did not go through this.
This, except I didn’t go on BC for my natural cycle so it was tied to my regular period.
