DS was close to four before he was fully potty-trained. He was the last kid in his daycare class in diapers. I do definitely regret not potty training him young but it is what it is. After about two, it has to be the kid’s decision.

My friend’s daughter had the same issue. She would only poop in her diaper. It lasted maybe a year. I would relax about it and make sure she is pooping in whatever way is comfortable for her - better than dealing with constipation and withholding issues. If she poops in the potty reward and praise her but leave it at that.

Neither of my kids has ever pooped at school. They wait until they get home. My now 4 year old took about 10 months between when she was potty trained for pee and when she started pooping on the potty. No amount of rewards made a difference. When they're ready they're ready.

Sounds like me in high school. The whole time, used the bathroom ONCE. When I was sick. It was exactly like I thought it would be. This was over 25 years ago, so it was smoky. yuck. I dont think high schoolers smoke anymore

We're going through something similar with our DD who is your daughter's age and are taking the wait it out and try again later route at home. I just can't see how putting her on the potty and letting her cry til she pukes is getting anyone anywhere, you know? (It has been becoming a power struggle between her and DH, too, and that's not good for their relationship.) So for now, she pees at daycare and then comes home and pees/poops in her diaper at night. I also had a lot of trouble with pooping as a kid and can remember being even 4 or 5 with terrible constipation wanting to hold it in and I don't want her to start fearing it so much that THAT happens. I'd rather her just keep using the diaper til she's emotionally ready to go in the potty. Yeah, it's gross, but my ick tolerance has already had to go so far up as a parent that I'm just dealing. So put her in pullups not diapers and dont push the potty at home.

Small toys as reward for every poop in the potty worked for my son. He is 25 months though so it may be harder when older

Same issue. Had to back off a bit to lessen the power struggle, then start little trinket toys as rewards.

Back off completely. Just put her in a diaper and don’t say a word about the potty. For two months minimum. Then revisit.

It seems SO stressful now, but she won’t go to kindergarten in diapers and it just isn’t worth it.

Anything we can do? She absolutely refuses (screams bloody murder and cries to the point of gagging) if we don’t put her in diapers so naked time clearly won’t work.
