For over 30 years I’ve had it professionally highlighted, heavy highlight, but I’m now unemployed and just can’t afford to go to the salon right now. My roots need a touch-up badly and I am considering doing it myself. I know a lot of the store bought blondes can turn orange, awful yellow or brassy. My color is very light blonde, champagne blonde. Does anyone have any recommendations on a good store bought blonde dye or highlight kit? Any tips are also welcome!
TIA!

I’ve used this one for years and always get compliments on my hair color. My trick is I only leave it on for about 5 minutes, comb it through, and then jump in the shower to rinse. I also shampoo my hair to help rinse, even though it says not to. I’ve noticed the shampooing softens the brassiness. I have naturally dirty blond hair with some natural lighter highlights mixed in, and this color has always worked well. Even my hairstylists tell me my color looks great!
Thank you! I was thinking about not letting it stay in all that long and do what you do!

Anonymous wrote:I use the clariol root touch up and I like it a lot (although my hair is not as light as yours). If you're worried about brassiness, get a blue toning shampoo or conditioner. I absolutely also love the Revlon highlighting kit with the cap ($7) at Walmart. I used it based on a recommendation on here and it works great. Kind of a pain to do b/c it takes awhile but no longer than the salon. FWIW, I paid $375 for my last color and cut. It does look better than the $7 revlon kit but honestly I got compliments on both.
