I don't know if this will work in your case but I've been growing out my hair since last March. I have light brown hair that had a lot of blonde highlights. Now it's light brown with some gray. I've been using this "Colorditioner" about one a week for the past few months and really love it. My hair feels so healthy and it's made it look really natural (I didn't like how overprocess my hair was looking with all the hightlights). It makes all the gray blonde and lasts about 2 washes.

I also have natural strawberry blonde hair, with about ten percent grey, and use a color close to my own for five minutes on the areas with the most grey. It works well for me.

Use John Frieda Go Blonder highlighting spray. It's really hard to Eff up. Then use a conditioning color to tone (something like dpHue or keracolor). You can't go wrong this way.

Watch a bunch of Brad Mondo videos. You CAN'T dye hair lighter than it is. You NEED to bleach first.

My roots need a touch-up badly and I am considering doing it myself. I know a lot of the store bought blondes can turn orange, awful yellow or brassy. My color is very light blonde, champagne blonde. Does anyone have any recommendations on a good store bought blonde dye or highlight kit? Any tips are also welcome!

TIA!

I’ve used this one for years and always get compliments on my hair color. My trick is I only leave it on for about 5 minutes, comb it through, and then jump in the shower to rinse. I also shampoo my hair to help rinse, even though it says not to. I’ve noticed the shampooing softens the brassiness. I have naturally dirty blond hair with some natural lighter highlights mixed in, and this color has always worked well. Even my hairstylists tell me my color looks great!

Thank you! I was thinking about not letting it stay in all that long and do what you do!

I absolutely also love the Revlon highlighting kit with the cap ($7) at Walmart. I used it based on a recommendation on here and it works great. Kind of a pain to do b/c it takes awhile but no longer than the salon. FWIW, I paid $375 for my last color and cut. It does look better than the $7 revlon kit but honestly I got compliments on both.

Thank you for this information. I was thinking a highlighting kit may be safest. I couldn’t find the clariol root touch-up in my shade of blonde, but perhaps I need to go to wal-mart. I was at the CVS.
