OP. Has nothing to do with thinking little of them (I honestly know nothing about them except that they're nearby), just expect my kid will want to play on the same team as his best friend. But I figured the experience could be useful, there's a small chance he'd want to play elsewhere if offered and if not, we'd get a feel for other clubs in case he wants a change down the road. Otherwise, worthwhile only because he loves to play any chance he gets.
If they're open tryouts, not sure how this takes a spot from someone else if he got an offer and turned it down promptly?

+1. Waste of other peoples time. Taking the spot away from someone who may truly want it, need it for convenience or location. Forcing them to accept somwehere else in a time crunch.
