Car engines don't have a break in period. Manufacturing tolerances are much better than they were 30-50 years ago.
I remember my dad changing the oil after the first 500 miles on a new car. Still do it as a habit......
I remember my uncle milking cows every morning and then his wife churning it to make butter. I still buy my butter in a store.
Just because a previous generation did something a certain way, doesn't mean that we have to carry on in the exact same way.
