Do they really expect people to turn down all other options on the off-chance they might get off a WL? That makes no sense. I thought the point was that you forfeit your deposit if you change your mind and they then pull someone else off the WL.

If you place a deposit at one school, and then later get off a waitlist and withdraw from the original school, that’s not considered double depositing.

However, if you place a deposit at two schools you are accepted at, hoping to choose later, you risk getting rescinded at both.

We are thinking of doing the same thing.. One at an expensive school across the country and one at the local state flagship. Once the Covid situation shakes out, we will make the final call.

It's only OK for colleges to be unethical (and immoral), take bribes, suck up to the rich, prefer one minority over another, etc. Students should not.

Don’t come to an anonymous forum for this kind of guidance. Don’t accept this kind of judgment. People have their own agendas. Talk to family, friends, or just do your own pros and cons list. And help your child make a decision, even if other people may not like the decision. It’s not their decision.

If you need more time to decide, just ask for an extension. Many schools will offer extensions now due to Covid.

We had to rescind from a private high school and it felt awful. I notified them the very next day DC was admitted off waitlist somewhere else and they made me feel like crap. Don't do this.

Just get your kid to make a decision and own it. Important life skill!

Please don't do this. It reflects poorly on you and your child.

If one of the colleges finds out you did this, your acceptance will get rescinded.
