It’s not the Mayo, it’s the other stuff in the sandwich that could be a concern. But I wouldn’t worry about it.

Years ago mayo was homemade and basically eggs and oil. Not the same as commercial. Most are acidic enough to retard bacteria.

Growing up, my mother never kept mayonnaise in the refrigerator. I am appalled now, but none of us ever got sick as far as I know.

I wouldn’t worry about the mayonnaise. Commercially produced mayo is generally shelf stable, even after opening. It’s the other ingredients that are potentially more perishable.

Yes, but it's hermetically sealed. Nonetheless, for years I have consumed mayonnaise that has sat unrefrigerated in my 67F house for 24 hours at a time some time longer, with no ill effect.

Commercial mayo has so many preservatives in it - remember it sits on the shelf for weeks/months before you buy it...

FTA- This reminds me of when my mom used to send me mayo and cheese sandwiches for lunch in a brown bag. It would sad out all morning regardless of the whether. Not only did I survive but I bed it’s what gave me my very strong immune system .

A friend kindly picked me up a sandwich from my favorite deli and dropped it at my stoop (I wasn't home!) Probably sat for about an hour in 50-degree weather. Safe to eat? AHHH.
