Find some really reputable cat breeder. Those people know everything about colors and markings because they breed for them. I once asked a question while visiting the cat show at the local expo and I think the answer went on for some hour or more...

When I was a kid we had a white kitten that had dark greyish brownish stripes on the top of his head to face. Once the cat fully grew the markings completly disappeared. It was so unbelievable. Apparently most white cats are not really white but they "Pretend to be white" do it really well. They are of some other color but the white somehow mask this. I don't know the ins and outs of it.
Perhaps you have the same situation with tabby pattern dominating the black fur?

I have a black and white party poodle who was pure white with just some black markings on him. As he has gotten older, he is 4-years old now, he has many black dots throughout his fur. His former white fur is now mottled with black spots throughout. so weird because his father is black and white, and his white fur is truly white, and his mother is a party poodle who is apricot and white. And her white is white with no other coloration. My pup has a half-sister with the same markings as him. Whenever I see pictures or video of her on the breeders site, I marvel at how much it looks like my pup. I have no idea where these Dalmatian dots come from

Our adorable black and white cat that we found as a stray is now showing tabby stripes in her black fur, which has over time turned a kind of an ultra dark brown with a reddish tint when the light hits it.
Its so cute! Ive had other black cats whose fur turned this reddish tint in the light as they aged, but never have had stripes appear.
On the other hand my seal point siamese had tabby stripes appear in her fur in her VERY senior years.
