I personally wouldn't. If you go into labour while visiting your parents you'll have to deliver at a strange hospital with a provider you've never met, then be released to either stay with relatives (sounds terrible with a newborn, much as I love my family) or to fly back to the DC area with a newborn (which would make me super nervous for health reasons even without the pandemic). Obviously, the likelihood of this happening isn't that large, especially with an uneventful pregnancy and it being your first, but for me the small chance of an extremely stressful situation would outweigh to the benefits.

Definitely check with your OB, but I suspect it's a personal risk calculus decision tbh.

Hi OP. I flew DC to CA at 35 weeks and back at 36 weeks. I ended up being induced at 37 weeks exactly, and then the pandemic hit and no one has gone anywhere, so I'm particularly glad I took advantage of the chance to travel. If your OB okays it, I would go for it. Even IF you deliver early, you'll be at home with family.

I would do it. In fact, I basically did - flew to Austin for Christmas when I was 35 weeks with my first. I think I returned home at like 35w4d or something.

The cut off is 36 weeks. If you've having a healthy pregnancy, do it. I asked my midwives what they thought, expecting a "well, it's a bit risky" answer and they were basically like, "it's before 36 weeks, go, have fun."

Hell no. But I delivered at 36 weeks both times. It would be really stressful, OP. I had zero complications either

OP here - yes this is my first child. And to the PP - I'm fully vaccinated and so is my family that I would be visiting. The trip is not until late June so I'm hoping many more are vaccinated by then as well

Would you fly from DC to Arizona 5 weeks before your due date for a long weekend? I'm 24 weeks and have had a pretty uneventful pregnancy thus far (and I'm fully vaccinated) - so I don't think I'm at risk for any complications (fingers crossed). Curious if others would feel comfortable taking this trip
