Two reasons. Obama's hack "car czar" Steve Rattner forced General Motors to cut brands (SAAB being one of those brands). And two, Volvo was about 4x larger than SAAB. Here are their sales figures leading up to the Great Recession and SAAB closing up shop:

Just because yours is push button, doesn’t mean they all are. The more expensive ones have a knob in the center console you twist to start.

I had a 2001 V70 T5
Now a 2013 X/C 70 T6
I love them. I keep them maintained well, never had any serious problems.

Haha, we had multiple Volvos growing up and they were constantly in the shop. Not a wealthy family but my parents are now lifelong friends of the mechanic .... I have a Subaru.

Love Volvos. On second XC90.

I liked mine and safety ratings were great but it was a hassle (and expensive) to get fixed so we replaced with a Subaru.

I have an XC 90. I love it.

I found the seats uncomfortable and the infotainment system harder than needed to use. I don’t like the twist knob start...but safety features are awesome.

An older mentor of mine had a saying about Volvo’s

“If you have money, drive whatever you want. If you want to make other people with money think you have money, too, then drive a Volvo”


The insinuation being Volvos are in constant need of expensive repairs. This has always stayed with me.

If you have new Volvo r u happy ? Or now they are built of cheap material with lots of electronics that you can not control ?
