He does know better. He has his own bathroom at his dad's house. It isn't important to him. Maybe girls care more about it but he doesn't.

“Same” things, but upgraded. Slackline, great pool toys, zipline, basketball hoop, ping pong table, professional art supplies, etc.

Definitely bathroom that only them (and sleepover guests) would use.

Nice hang out space downstairs (place they can be out of your ear shot but not just in their room).

Close walk to coffee shops and parks.

In our backyard in the suburbs, our teens loved that we had a pool, trampoline, and tire swing, plus the deck with the lounge chairs and tables, etc. It's off the kitchen, so it was easy for them to go from the pool to deck to get a drink in the kitchen, etc.

Also, having a big L-shaped couch with a big ottoman in front of a big tv with a fireplace was well-liked.

I mean my kids would love their own personal bathroom. That’s their dream. They share a kids one.

Their own bathroom, not shared with you. Mine would love their own but our house isn’t that big and they share.

An area inside somewhere to hang out with friends that’s separated from the main area of the house - separate from you. A basement or a big back room far away, something with some sort of privacy. We have a nice basement but ours seem to prefer the garage. It’s even farther from parents and they have set it up as a lounge.

Must haves are bedrooms and a kitchen.

Nice to haves are a finished basement hang out, soundproofing, a lockable wine cellar, room for an extra car in the driveway, upstairs laundry, extra refrigerator somewhere.

I have none of these, but they would be on my list.

What are some features in a house that are "must-haves" or that just make things easier when you have teens? When we moved into our current house 10+ years ago, our kids were toddlers, and we looked for things like a space for a playroom, backyard space for a play set, kids' bedrooms close to ours, etc. Now, it looks like we're going to need to move again, and have the chance to start from a clean slate when looking for our new house, except now our kids are (or will soon be) teens. We have two boys and a girl.
