Good to know I likely ovulated within about 36 hrs if trigger. We were only able to try the night of the trigger and then the night of the IUI.

Trigger shot causes ovulation tests to be blazing positive as it’s picking up the HCG. You aren’t supposed to use them after a trigger shot.

I was temp checking and OPK testing and neither were positive during my IUI procedure but I got a baby out of it so obviously I did ovulate. I didn’t know that could happen and was nervous I didn’t ovulate but my RE said it’s common. Not sure how.

You can try again (no harm), but a trigger shot pretty much guarantees ovulation 36 hrs later. The opk will remain positive for quite sometime (as will a hpt) because the trigger contains hcg which will give you a false positive opk. Additionally, even if you didn’t take a trigger, you ovulate 24-48 hours after your first positive opk and there is no point in continuing to test.



Oh thanks! I didn’t realize the opk could have a false positive as well. I definitely am testing out the trigger so I knew the hpt would be a false positive for a while.

Sure try again tonight. It won’t hurt. You want to do the iui ebfore you ovulate. After you ovulate is too late. Good luck.

Also adding that I was monitored before the IUI and know I had two 20+ mm follicles.
