Can’t start TPCDC until child is 18 months and TCS is 2 years I think. Pre-pandemic it was almost impossible to get a spot in the youngest classroom bc of preference going to siblings of older kids. Both are great programs. You can look up costs online. TPCDC has longer hours I believe and is open for more weeks in the summer.

"Leaders of a vaunted D.C. charter school failed to assure the safety of students after educators raised concerns about inappropriate behavior by a teacher, according to a report that has led to the ouster of top school officials.

The board of the Latin American Montessori Bilingual (LAMB) Public Charter School commissioned an outside investigation after a 36-year-old elementary school teacher, Manuel Garcia Fernandez, was accused of sexual contact with several students. Fernandez admitted in D.C. Superior Court in June that he sexually abused six students between 2015 and 2017, and he faces up to eight years in prison. He has not been sentenced.

In a five-page letter sent to parents this week, the school’s board disclosed that LAMB’s principal, Cristina Encinas, and student psychologist, Rosario Paredes, will leave their posts Dec. 15. The school’s executive director, Diane Cottman, will leave her job at the end of the school year, according to the letter.

“We believe that the administrators in charge failed to respond appropriately,” the board’s letter to parents said."

The second location is having trouble getting approved and isn't opening on time. Parents are scrambling on the list serves and Facebook groups to find other options.

Any reviews of Estrellitas?

I don't have experience with any of them but I have seen some posts on the Takoma Families Facebook group about them. I suggest asking there, or on the Takoma PAKK listserv. It looks like parents are very willing to chat individually. If you're interested in Spanish immersion Montessori Estrellitas is opening a campus in fall in the old adventist middle school building.

Probably wouldn't start any earlier than summer 2022. Child is under 6 months, and we'll likely have an alternative childcare arrangement in place at least until next summer/fall.

Reposting with a clearer subject line.

I am looking to learn more about preschool programs in Takoma Park. We've heard good things about Takoma Children School (TCS), Takoma Park Child Development Center (TPCDC), and Takoma Montessori School (TMS)? How do each of these programs compare to one another in terms quality of education/experience, cost, diversity, etc.? And are there other options that I should consider?
