Study the extra fees so there are no surprises for you.

Unfortunately the fees come as a surprise for about half of the people on Frontier. So be prepared for people yelling at gate agents, and then angry and acting childish for the flight. I avoid Frontier simply because there are too many stupid adults on those flights.

They have the best schedule for flying nonstop to Denver. It's out of DCA and crazy convenient.

It's not my favorite airline, but I flew them quite a few times to Denver for skiing and visiting friends. Better than Spirit, IMHO. I would only use Frontier for nonstop flights, no layovers. Like Spirit, the tray tables are not full size, seats are uncomfortable, and leg space is cramped.

I haven't flown with them since having a kid. I can't comment on that.

Re: all the Frontier seat comments, it depends on how tall you are. My spouse is 5'3" and is fine in Frontier seats. I am 6'4" and do not do well at all in them.

They have the most convenient flights and prices are good.

But their seats are uncomfortable (no cushion, rigid, hardly any legroom). And, the last time I flew Frontier (in the before times), there was some trash on the floor when we boarded that remained there during the flight. I got the sense the air waitresses were completely checked out.

I live in Denver, and Frontier used to be my preferred airline. After a couple flights that were very delayed (think hours), I have switched to Southwest. Am very happy with Southwest.

It’s fine. It’s an airplane that gets you there. I do the DC to Denver flight on frontier all the time.

I’m 5’9” and had to shift my legs to the side in order to fit. The distance between seats is very short.

I hate Frontier, but honestly, flights are terrible no matter what. If the times and airport work out better with Frontier, then go with Frontier.

The seat is not that comfortable but for DC to Denver who cares? I think their seats are lightweight which helps to make them the greenest American air carrier. So just remind yourself of that when you're *slightly* less comfortable than on another plane. https://www.flyfrontier.com/travel-tails/posts/2021/green/frontier-is-about-to-get-even-greener/?mobile=true

It's kind of like a rubbermaid version- the seat is like a plastic bleacher chair. The seat-back fold down tray is smaller than a tablet. There was no way I could use my laptop without disturbing the people around me.
We had an issue and they hire such few staff (to cut costs) that the line for "issues" was incredibly long at the airpirt. Just have low expectations and you'll be happy.
If your family is big enough to fill a row, that's good, since it seems more crowded than other airplanes.
When you're buying tickets, the website makes you feel like you need to pay extra for all sorts of things. "Do you want to sit by your child? Pay extra." They'll put you together. They're not going to want strangers complaining that they're next to an unattended child.

I hate Frontier. Super uncomfortable seats and they always seem to be running very late.

It’s a flying Greyhound. It will get you from A to B, but you should have NO expectations of anything (ANYTHING!) else.

They used to be my preferred airline and I'd choose them almost everytime. Now it's hit or miss. Not as no frills as Spirit, but they do nickel and dime you

It's usually fine. Study the extra fees so there are no surprises for you.

I'm planning a trip (with kids) to Denver/Estes Park this summer. Frontier offers the most desirable times for non-stop flights out of our preferred DC area airport (and is a good deal cheaper than United, even with the extra $$ for a checked bag). I've never taken that airline and am seeking input. Thanks!
