Just a thought if you want to keep your kids busy for a while.

Paying them to bag cicadas? Why not pay them to bag rocks?

Paying kids to collect rocks is also common? I’ve paid kids to collect all kinds of things. Seashells. Walnuts.

We planted a lot of apparently vulnerable shrubs last Spring and Fall. We will be netting them in a couple of weeks.

You can buy nets on Amazon and put them on mid to late April.

+1 OP. Just sit back and enjoy! Not everything in the world is a problem that needs to be solved or a project that needs to be managed.

No, you don’t need to do anything.

Except buy beans and toilet paper.

I will protect my younger fruit trees with insect barrier netting.

Other than that I am just waiting for the fun to begin. The cicadas are a treat.

Absolutely nothing. There has been plenty of new construction and loss of mature trees in my neighborhood since 2004 so I’m not even sure we’ll get that many.

I've decided to do nothing and let nature do its thing.
