A Cares classroom with an adult they know. It might be their homeroom teacher (huddle this year) or one of their subject teachers.

My understanding at Deal is that the kids would be in school for a half day each week with one class in-person with a live teacher who would be simultaneously teaching kids at home and one class where they would be on their devices using headphones in the classroom and the teacher remotely teaching.

So some in-person, some DL.

Depending on how many teachers are willing to come in.

Based on what Deal "offered" in the survey - I thought it was different.

My IPL class was totally tech free. But now that the cohort size is expanding we are back to lap tops and apps.

We have a high parent demand and tons of teachers still out.

So just because its non tech for term 3- does not mean its non tech for term 4.

Not at Bruce Monroe, at least not my 2nd graders class. They mainly use the lap top for their specials. The two second grade teachers are doing a great job and seem happy to be back in person. No simulcasting either. Honestly, its been transformative for my kid to be back in school and just engaging with her teacher in person.

Yes, Deal kids will have their class via their computer.

Our school (ES), they are not on laptops all day. At first they were on more, because the teacher was simulcasting, so the kids had to be on the laptops in order to interact with the kids at home. Then they got a new mic for the classroom that solved that problem. Now they do some stuff on the laptop, but less. My kid is really happy.

I have a kid at Wilson who does one day a week IPL - she says it is not just laptops but a good part still is as the teacher is teaching virtually as well. Her teacher told me in Parent Teacher conferences that they have extra time after the virtual kids sign off that he uses to help if needed or just for social fun. He was suprised at how good that was for himself and the kids.

I feel the benefit is much higher for social then academic but even with one class a week IPL - my daughter says it is beneficial. Beyond happy that my Deal kid will get some IPL this spring.

Deal just sent a note saying:

"Based on staff availability and family demand we will provide IPL seats to students based on the Term 4 Reopening Query.
Student Cohorts - 15 students
Students will be required to bring their device (fully charged) and headphones"

We were excited to get SOME IPL , but if its just them sitting in a room staring at the laptop, i dont see the point.
