Yes, it’s gone for a long time. I found out they were able to reset it using their Apple ID.

^I am rambling there, but my point was VPNs definitely manipulate history.

So... go to your cell provider website. Go to parental controls. Change the times those items can be on the internet. We changed ours so our son can only call us or 911 between 11 am and 6 am.

My kids can easily get around any screen time limits I put on their devices. The only way to absolutely prevent them from using it is to take the device or shut off the wifi, from devices that don’t have cell services. My oldest has nicely explained to me several ways the younger ones are doing it. All I know for sure is that the kids are more advanced than me.

There is one method of doing something after they plug the device into a laptop. I don’t understand it at all. This is beyond changing the time zone. They can also open up VPNs. He said they figured out how to plug directly into a router and do something after we go to bed.

I know I sound old here and am not explaining correctly, but the safest way is to turn in devices and then I sleep with them in my room when things get too out of hand or grades drop too much.

I have looked at my iphone screen time and think it's pretty inaccurate. Sometimes its on when I think it's off and sometimes its the opposite. Sometimes apps run in the background.

No idea if it can be manipulated (probably) but I also don't think it's trustworthy. I'd be more inclined to take the phone at night than to rely on that.

My son's glitched the other day, he has 2 hour time limits/day for games and some apps, and it said he had been on youtube for 15hrs and locked out his games because his time was up. His ipad was home and he was at school, no one was on it.

So yes it can glitch, and no I am 99% sure you cannot alter it.

I hadn’t checked teen’s screen time report (on my phone) in ages. Due to other issues (teen showing old mental health symptoms again), I checked it yesterday morning, and it showed someone up until almost 4am.

I called teen out on it. Checked this morning. Claims teen wasn’t on past midnight last night. Didn’t seem likely. I looked at yesterday’s report. Says teen wasn’t on after 7pm (definitely not true. Teen was FaceTiming friend at 11pm last night and knows I know). More concerning, it now shows that teen was not up until 4am yesterday, and in fact, teen didn’t use it until noon.

Um... it is possible this is a glitch? I’m really concerned if teen is manipulating the report, as this brings up a lot of old issues.

I can’t find online how to go back and change the screentime history, though. She used Google Chome, social media (text and maybe twitch), and entertainment (probably YouTube).
