In simple terms, the "quiet" period means that DI coaches will not be allowed to attend any tournaments off campus where they sit on the sideline and evaluate players. This would continue through June 30. During a "quiet" period, DI coaches are able to work camps and clinics off campus as staff members. Also, the camp or clinic "CANNOT" be an invitation only event. It must be open to any and all players but it can be capped at a specific number by position, total players or grad year. During a "quiet" recruiting period, prospective student athletes and their parents can have "campus visits" with coaches.

NCAA is currently discussing a quiet period for 30 days after the dead period. Don’t expect D1 coaches to attend any showcases until late fall/winter 2021. July will be vacation/ID camps, August is preseason, and September through November will be the fall college season. Starting in 2022, the recruiting landscape may begin to look like what it was prior to the pandemic.

Yes, NCAA dead period is about all sports and mostly about protecting the bubble around the revenue producing sports. Look for the period to expand unless the country gets a handle on COVID. The NCAA is not going to risk sending coaches out toe recruit and expose themselves to the virus and then bring that virus back into the bubble and risk the college football season.

Pretty sure the NCAA doesn't even know how to spell ECNL. It is doubtful their decisions have anything to do with any specific sport.
And even if they did, it would make no sense to end the dead period right after the season ends.

Not every ECNL team is equal and these ECNL showcases give teams the ability to go against other teams of equal abilities. Also, they do stream the games so that coaches can watch and coaches do watch. JefCup, although not ECNL, was a great example of this with teams like FCV, World Cup, Bethesda, Delaware, Richmond and NC Courage all playing each other as opposed to beating the hell out of weaker opponents in their respective conferences.

Let's hope NJ gets its COVID act together because today it is a hot spot.

Jesus, not every D1 program is a Power 5 top 20 program. To limit showcasing only until ECNL post season doesn't help anyone. The Power 5 schools have locked up their recruits by now and what is left are the smaller D1 programs for whom the ECNL post season players have already been picked pretty clean by now.

The dead period was purposefully set to end after the NJ showcase. If they move the showcase later a week, what makes you think NCAA won't extend the dead period yet again?

But I dont understand the part about holding a huge showcase so close to the end of the dead period. Why not hold in when the dead period is over?

Do you like throwing money in the toilet? Hold it after the dead period expires so coaches can attend and then it won't be such a waste of time and money.
