Subject: Different color island cabinetry? Or different island countertop?
I did marble-look quartz in my kitchen and love the no-maintenance and durability, but it’s not completely convincing as marble. I think it looks nice, but I wouldn’t call attention to it by adding a second countertop type and making it the focal point. And I dislike the leathered texture, it never looks truly clean to me.

I love B. We have that granite now for counters and it’s indestructible, forgiving, and not really noticeably textured. I wouldn’t do a black island countertop though.

Yeah I would definitely do something not plain white for the island cupboards.
I looked at some houses with contrasting countertops, there were a few fails. It's hard to tie it in. But the one that looked the best still wasn't great.
It depends a lot on your flooring imo.

Whatever you do, skip the matte granite. That really seems like a trend with an expiration date.
Have you seen "Virginia granite"? It's matte, and it's gorgeous

Leatheted granite has a bumpy texture. I used it for my fireplace hearth. I don't think it could be a countertop.

I am fine with the island cabinet contrast. I’m strongly opposed to the different stone on the island. One is quite common, the other is rare (and for good reason IMO)

If kids will sit at the island, a dark cabinet will ensure you aren't a slave to keeping kid-footprints off white cabinets.
