There are definitely pediatricians around who are open to alternative schedules (mine is one of them). He actually recommends no more than 2 shots at a time but is also fine if parents prefer to do four at once or one at a time.

New poster here, I’m a nurse and I worked in a pediatricians office for a while. You can usually have them special ordered separately. The doctors office will likely have you pay for the entire vial even if it is a multi dose vial.

OP here it is not exactly my reasoning, but rather the reasoning of doctors from Europe (UK excluded, Brits have similar schedules even thought their vaccines tend to have les aluminum in them )

I think plenty of American parents raise this, though I believe some doctors refuse to take patients who don’t follow the vaccine schedule.

I will say I lived abroad until my first was 2 and the timing was slightly different (off by a few weeks) but the number of shots and spacing was about the same (at least up until 2). The big difference was no Hep A but only because it isn’t common in that country.


OP here...news flash Hep A is not common in USA either

American healthcare is run like a business, so you can definitely shop around and find a doctor willing to accommodate your vaccination wishes.

Some vaccines are manufactured together, though, e.g. Tdap=tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, so it may not be possible to get them as separate injections.

How old is your kid? I hated having to do shots as i felt bad (although baby is over it after a few min) and would have hated doing 4 separate trips to the doctor. Do you work? It’s also a PITA. And that is the recommended vaccination schedule

I am not antivaxx. I am just very surprised by the number of vaccines and the tight packing of them in USA compared to my home country, Sweden.
Are any of you managed to negotiate a different vaccine scheduling protocol? My child is not going to a daycare for at least 8 months
