Too funny, my 11 year old has a Riders of Rohan shirt that she wears constantly, along with one for the Mordor Fun Run (“One does not simply walk”) that she stole from me. Also likes her Zelda shirt. When she was a toddler, it was Disney princesses and Paw Patrol. I mean, I wouldn’t let her wear those to church or something but she likes them and it doesn’t hurt anybody.

Yes, once they're old enough to care. Babies and toddlers I got to dress however I wanted. Once they developed an opinion I let them wear the character shirts. They grow out of it! 11YO DD informed me she now wants to wear only jeans, and solid black or white t-shirts.

I don't buy clothes with characters on them, but she has received a couple as a gift, and I'm okay with her wearing it.

I don't always go out of my way to purchase them because I don't like my kids to be walking advertisements. But if we are gifted one or I know one will just really make my kids happy, yes of course.

YES! It brought joy to my kid for relative pennies. Also, I am not a snob. It won't last long. Why not give joy?

Would I love to have a child I could dress in cute, retro clothes? Yes! Do I actually have that child? No. I have a girl who only wants to wear graphic tees and joggers. I do think that kids being able to pick their own clothes (within reason for expense, seasonal appropriateness) is an important part of developing a healthy sense of self.
