Have they made clear who is eligible for summer school?

Almost no one. Kids have to be ESL or more than one grade level behind.

Merely one full grade level behind is acceptable, so no summer school for you

Teams. What’s the difference? My son calls it zoom school. It’s a joke.

Is this a fake post to stir up drama?
Did you see the slides? It's definitely not fake. PP is just using zoom like kleenex--in the genericized sense.

Yes, that’s what they are saying.

APS has made it pretty clear that it considers educating students to be too much work. APS administration wants its spring break and easy coast into summer. After all, it got the last 3.5 months of last school year off completely. Why mess up precedent?

FCPS parent again. I looked at the slides and that's pretty bad. Not sure if it's worse to have your hopes dashed now or in a couple weeks (when ours will be...)

This is what we got from our superintendent:

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) new guidance around social distancing in schools gives us the opportunity to consider expanding in-person instruction to include additional days. We are assessing student needs and working with our capacity architects to identify each school’s capacity and will share more information after Spring Break.

They've updated tonight's Board Docs saying that it is basically too hard to go back 5 days a week, even for priority groups: https://go.boarddocs.com/vsba/arlington/Board.nsf/files/BZFV8R5D81B9/$file/D-1%20School%20Year%202020-21%20Update%20Presentation%20-%203-25-21.pdf

Rather than figure these "monumental logistical challenges" out, they're going to continue to "deliver quality instruction in both models".

But, hey, at least I can be reassured that my struggling kid's Zoom education is "quality"!
