We have the Nanit but the white noise has been an issue. If you use the built in white noise it turns off sound notifications because it picks up the sound. But if I want to keep sound on overnight I still need to listen to the white noise. I haven’t found a way to filter out the sound.

I’m Pp who likes eufy, and we opted for no WiFi because of hacking, but if I had a nanny or babysitter and had to be elsewhere I’d probably go for the WiFi too.

I really like our Eufy, but OP’s post is confusing because it’s really about features, not “high end.” Audio vs video, “smart” vs not connected, machine “monitoring” of motion and sleep or just a real-time feed for parents.

We agonized over baby monitors before DD was born. Now that she is 2yo I can't imagine wanting more features beyond the Infant Optics which has been pretty reliable (we did have to file a warranty claim once when the image quality got bad but they were very responsive and sent us a new camera). If buying today I would probably go for the Eufy.

I almost bought the Nanit, but ended up with Lollipop because it's so easy to travel with. It's bendable so I've attached it to things like doorknobs and coat racks when we've been traveling to get a good camera angle. So easy to take off wall for travel and put it back up when return.

It has most of the features PP described with Nanit, bur not all. But honestly, I don't feel like I'm missing anything. I love that I can go audio only on my phone and also go back and review footage later on my phone. Also, because it's app based, babysitters can just use the app and monitor on their phone. (change the password regularly when we do that)

I tend to be pretty anxious when it comes to baby, but this was enough for me. Things like monitoring breathing would have just made me more anxious.

PP here. Here is what I find most helpful about Nanit: (1) it sends you a notification on your phone if there is sound detected so that you don't have to be constantly monitoring (and it differentiates between noise from baby and a sound machine/music); (2) you can close the app but still have the sound "play" in the background if you want; (3) it monitors temp and humidity in baby's room; (4) it keeps a log of when the baby wakes up and tabulates total sleep time so that you know how many hours of sleep baby has gotten and also know, for example if baby woke up in middle of night but made no noise and went to sleep on his/her own.

It can also track breathing, but we've never used that feature.

What bells and whistles do you need in a baby monitor? I had a basic one that worked fine. The screen monitors were becoming more popular but I could see myself obsessing over if the baby was moving/breathing etc if I had one of those and driving myself crazy so I opted not to get one.

Make sure you have one that had a noise filter or the monitor will pick up stuff like the white noise and keep you up.

We have the Nanit and I actually don't really like it that much. Feel like it gets rave reviews and we have to reset the camera once every few weeks or the app gets glitchy. I guess all the sleep tracking features are nice but I don't need them. We just needed a wifi monitor because the layout of our house was not working with the range of our non-wifi monitor.

We also have Eufy which is not a wifi monitor and doesn't have as many bells and whistles as Nanit and similar competitors. We used it in our bedroom for the first 5 months when our baby was sleeping in a bassinet and went down to bed before we did. I prefer it and we just use it for travel now.

Any recommendations? Want the best one possible with all the bells and whistles. What are features I should look out for?
