She sleeps through the night and has been waking up about 5:30am each morning, at which point I nurse her. She is visibly tired while nursing so I keep the lights low and put her back in her crib after nursing, and she sleeps until 6:30am/7am. I on the other hand, cannot fall back asleep at that point. I would love to somehow encourage her to skip that 5:30am wakeup, and I'll admit I have not let her fuss for too long in the mornings - maybe 20 minutes tops before I go grab her and nurse her.
Would I be a total monster if I just resolved to not go in until 6:30am? She would not be happy - but maybe it would help her recalibrate to that wakeup time? Or any other ideas?
I know naps can impact nighttime sleep - she takes 2 good naps during the day, for what it's worth.
Your kid is sleeping 11 hours overnight and still taking 2 naps. Dont do anything.
Use this time to make new routines like enjoy a cup of coffee and then do some yoga/meditation. Get a workout in. Take the dog for a walk. Start a gratitude journal and the first line can be: I am grateful my kid sleeps 11 hours overnight![]()

Anonymous wrote:OP, I have a similar situation. I just moved my own bedtime a bit earlier so I didn’t mind starting the day at 5:30, honestly. My kid is really totally zonked out for her first long sleep of the night and I don’t want to mess with that.

OP here - I could try this. It honestly had not occurred to me.
