More like 95% luck and whether an actor has the right look for a given project, and 5% talent, but okay.

Agree with this. Also, Pittsburgh is a really great city for artists. Low cost of living and there is a very vibrant and experimental artistic community there. I would weigh the benefits of that against any issues she has with CMU main campus, because there will be great off campus opportunities for her in Pittsburgh. Where else did she apply?

I don’t understand applying to places that you don’t like. My son tried that too. Like, I don’t really like it here, but I’ll apply anyway.
Had to put a stop to that. No need to waste $50 so he can collect acceptance letters.

The top schools for acting seems to be CM Yale Northwestern and NYU. Are any of the other schools options?

This is idiotic. Her daughter wants to do drama and she supports her. You don't have to impose your beliefs on her. You understand other people allowed to feel differently, right? And they are allowed to seek advice and feel supported, and not be harassed by people who disagree? You get that?

Wow congrats! My spouse was in grad school there and it definitely has a stem, dorky (to me, this is a compliment) vibe from what I could tell. Others with experience should opine on what the undergrad experience is like, but the drama department is so good I would strongly consider it.

but she doesn't really like CMU as a whole. doesn't see herself there, very different than most CMU students. but the school of drama is SO good. so what to do?
