We live nearby and know two sets of neighbors who joined. Very preppy.

They are really trying to recruit younger generation right now. I think they are offering very low entry prices if you’re under 35-40. I think there’s a big generational divide.

It’s a dining and social club. That’s really it. It’s not a particularly large or impressive venue. Metropolitan, Cosmos, etc do it better if that’s what you want.

PreCovid-- it started marketing to younger folks. I live in Georgetown + 2 friends belong- one older + one younger. I was there for a Christmas party. It was fun. Join if you like. Don't depend on DCUM nasties to say anything good. They will trash it whether or not they have been there.

I've never heard of it but I think it is a great idea. It is very popular in LA pre-Covid (I don't know about now). I've had some of the best meals in my life at a few of the dining clubs in LA. When it is done well then it is done well. I think we will check this place out OP!

Is it related to the university? I thought it is simply a social, dining club located in Georgetown. What is the affiliation with the university?

Pp, it’s physically in Georgetown.

It’s fine. But really just fine. If you think you’ll eat there often and will use the large spaces available to host your own events, it may be great for you.

What is the story with people joining the club that didn’t even go to Georgetown?

Business is booming at the Met Club. They are about to finish a new roof top bar. Unbelievable wine cellar. Lots of great authors do events there.

GT Club is much smaller and focused almost entirely on food.

Their entrance looks like a seedy business.

It looks very stuffy. Events seem centered around food and wine tastings. I don't know. Why on earth would you want to do this instead of being free to go to any of the countless great restaurants that would really appreciate your business once they can safely re-open?

Uh, just looking at reviews and pics on google, I am not seeing any evidence of it being a "fun social scene" for anyone with teens.

Hi, we are thinking of applying for membership to the George Town Club. We have been there for parties/auctions before COVID and it seemed like a nice place. What's the general "vibe" and how complicated is the membership application process? We aren't golf or tennis fans so don't need a country club, but are looking for something with good dining and a fun social scene. We have teens, and are mid-50s if that helps. Thanks.
