Exactly what is the problem OP? If you grew up here, I doubt even your cooking is like real thing back home.

Yes my husband is a very good cook and makes fantastic versions of my people’s food (Chinese). I also leave his ethnic food to him (Ashkenazi Jewish food).

Depends on if he was good at it, I guess. If we were 10 years in and he was still butchering the recipes, I might wish he'd cook something different.

My husband loves that I make food from his native country! Some dishes are more successful than other s but he always appreciates the effort. I’m only allowed to serve a couple of the dishes to his mom though lol.

If they enjoy the food, that's just a nice thing to do. Maybe they even cooked it before knowing you?

If your spouse watches Food Network, or reads cookbooks/magazines/blogs, they likely see recipes from different cultures all the time. I made miso soup for the first time, just because the picture looked soooooo good, and I had time on the weekend. I wasn't trying to be an authentic Japanese cook; I just wanted to try a new recipe.

Yes I would. But my spouse rarely cooks 😬. I do try to cook some of his family recipes (mainly the cookies/pies etc.). I have a family member (in her 80s now) who is an excellent cook of food of her spouses origin. (Taught by spouses mother).

I’m Hispanic and my husband is white and he always chooses to make Hispanic/Latin foods. Is that what you’re talking about? I think it’s fantastic.

I think it's wonderful. My spouse is cooking plantains tonight. I showed him how but he does most of the cooking so he's doing it tonight.

Do you like it? Or does it bother you? How I feel about it is less important than how you feel about it.

I would think that my spouse either likes that kind of food anyway, or is trying to share in my culture, which is nice.

If you are in an inter racial marriage (both grew up in the US) and your spouse chose to always cook food from your family of origin, would you like this? This is the situation I'm in and wondering if anyone else can relate?
